The Gift of Shabbat—a ‘Taste of Heaven’!
What is more precious in our lives than time itself? We Jews are commanded to sanctify time, to create holy moments, to embrace opportunities to fill our time with study, with deeds of compassion, with prayer, with celebration. Our observance of Shabbat has gives us joy and sustains us as a people. The act of setting aside one-seventh of our lives just to be—not to do, not to accomplish, not to stress and strain, but to thank, to bless, to revel in the wonders of creation-this is Shabbat and this is a life of meaning.
Many of us do not claim this priceless gift of our heritage for our own, but we could! Each year, we “taste” what Shabbat can be by joining in a Women’s Shabbat Retreat off-site from the Temple. We fill the hours of Shabbat with friendship, rest, prayer, good food, hiking, discussions, more good food, singing, meditation and more. Our Retreat allows us to let go of those pressing concerns that otherwise would fill our day of rest, and, most importantly, bring us all closer to one another and closer to our Isaiah community and all that it offers to us as Jews in a modern world.
Give yourself this precious gift of Shabbat in 2010. Join us for a “taste of heaven” at the Women’s Retreat on April 16/17.
We’re offering a 10% discount for first-timers this year.
