Sports Day benefits the Avodah Youth Program
The Avodah Youth Program provides training to our teens whom then assume roles of leadership as teacher’s assistants in the religious school classroom. It’s a win-win program, providing much needed individual attention in the classroom by positive teen role models. In addition, the teen assistant earns an honorarium for hours worked in the classroom which can be used toward participation in a youth activity that enriches their connection to Judaism, such as Jewish camp, religious retreats, LAFTY or Israel trips.

Activities include…

  • Golf tees off at 8:30am for 9 holes on the beautiful Blackhawk Golf Course. Sue Clearfield is our golf coordinator and will be in contact with you upon registration.
  • Tennis Round Robin activities begin at 9am and will be coordinated by Julie Bell. Rabbi Shanks will be playing tennis, so sharpen your serve, practice your volley and come prepared to engage your Rabbi in a whole new way. Details will follow registration.
  • Hiking begins at 9am with coordinator Cheryl Kohleriter as your guide. Meeting location and details of the hike will be sent to you upon registration.
  • Biking begins at 9am with Israeli biking champion, Evelyn Graetz, as your guide. The ride will occur near Blackhawk and be in a rural streets area. More details upon registration.
  • Walking will be led by Sherri Rowan and will be in the neighborhood near the Clubhouse.  Meeting time and location will be provided after registration.

Blackhawk Country Club will serve a delicious buffet lunch, beginning at 11:30.

So put on your visors and join your sisters and Rabbi Shanks for some healthy competition and a lot of fun! If you’d rather skip the aerobics and just join us for lunch, you are most welcomed! Have friends you’d like to invite? Please do!
