Teens
Noar Night begins a new generation of teen programming at Temple Isaiah. This year, the program formerly known as Teen School adopts a new name and a new format which includes the Wednesday night program as well as weekend retreats and Shabbat experiences. We’ve listened to and learned from teens and parents, and your reflections and reactions have shaped our vision for the coming year.
Noar Night begins with dinner, relaxing, and letting the stress of the day take a back seat to laughter and conversation.
The evening continues with Kehillot, small groups designed to create a safe space for teens to share with and learn from one another. Facilitated by our young professional staff, teens set the agenda, reflecting on their own lives and the world around them. Through these small groups, our teens will build a community based on the values of trust, respect, and support. Through support by peers and mentors, they will find that they are not alone as they encounter a world of challenging questions and elusive answers.
Our evening concludes with Limmud, Jewish learning by grade level. Teens will develop a dynamic, relevant, and personalized Jewish identity as they explore the intersection of Jewish tradition and contemporary issues.
Noar Night is a place where teens unplug from their cell phones and Facebook profiles, and experience significant face to face interactions. It is a time where homework is temporarily set aside for meaningful conversations and the opportunity for self-discovery.*
As our teen programming grows and evolves, Noar Night is just one of the many other opportunities for our teens to engage in our Temple Isaiah community: Anachnu and LAFTY Youth Groups, The Mighty Kleztones, Meshorerim Teen Choir, Avodah Teaching Assistant Program, East Bay Let’s Go: Israel Trip, Camp Kefli, and more!
