Yachad Picnic at the Res

May 18, 2008

2 pm

Offsite at Lafayette Reservoir picnic area

Contact Mary Anne Winig at 925-284-8575, ext. 301.

We will be meeting at the smaller reserved picnic site at the Lafayette this Sunday, May 18th at 2 PM.  We’ll have the grill available and hot, so bring something to throw on the grill or another dish to share.  As mentioned in earlier e-mails, the activities at the Reservoir include a relaxing walk on a paved 2.7 mile loop trail, an invigorating, 4+ mile walk up and down on the unpaved Rim Trail, rowboat or paddle boat rentals, or just relaxing and visiting in the shade of the picnic site.  It appears that there might be a group interested in hiking the rim trail.  If you would like to participate in this more rigorous hike with the group, please let me know, so that I’ll be able to put you in touch with those hikers.  They will be starting before 2 PM, as it gets hot up there and much of the trail is exposed.  (Members of the Temple Isaiah community will be at the site from 10 AM on for our third annual Steps for Tzedakah/Lag B’Omer picnic.  If you want to participate in that walk which benefits Tzur Hadassah, our twin congregation in Jerusalem, come earlier than the Yachad 2 PM starting time.  Your $18 contribution will go directly to a congregation that is working to for Progressive Judaism in Israel.)

Please RSVP, so we’ll know to look for you.  Parking at the Reservoir is at meters (2 hours with quarters) or in the parking lot with the entrance fee of $6.00.
