Pre-K Parent/Child Holiday Program

We invite you and your four year old(s) to the joys of Jewish celebration at Temple Isaiah Religious School. Our Pre-K Child and Parent Holiday Class consists of 6 sessions focusing on the Jewish holidays. We are delighted to announce that one of the most outstanding, experienced, and innovative teaches in the Bay Area, Mimi Greisman, will be returning to teach the class for a second year. The families who participated in this program last year had a fantastic experience, and we are thrilled to welcome Mimi back for another year.

Participation in our Pre-K program develops your family’s love of our tradition and the joys of being a part of the Isaiah community. By attending our holiday class with your child, you will be planting and nurturing the seeds of Jewish identity and commitment.

Your children will be introduced to our Religious School campus and community, and they will look forward to coming to their Jewish neighborhood. Whether you are new to Judaism, have a traditional upbringing or are supporting your partner in the decision to educate your children as Jews, this warm and nurturing program will welcome your perspective and provide opportunities to explore and develop ways to make the Jewish holidays personally meaningful and filled with joy.

The classroom environment will be one of discovery and creativity. Creative and expressive arts, storytelling, hands-on activities, song and dance will all be part of the sessions. You and your children will participate in discussions and perhaps be surprised at the deep level of spiritual craving and search for higher meaning that such young children demonstrate.

The 2010-2011 dates of the class and the holidays celebrated are:

September 26: Sukkot
November 21: Chanukah
December 12: Shabbat
January 23 : Tu B’shevat
March 13: Purim
April 10: Pesach

We meet from 9 a.m. until 11:10 a.m. on the Sunday mornings listed above.

Your child needs to be 4 years old by December 1, 2010 (contact Rabbi Greninger for exceptions). The charge for the class is $100 for Temple Isaiah members, $125 for non-members.
This program is appropriate for children attending a Jewish pre-school or a non-Jewish pre-school.

We know from research that family involvement and the creation of rituals around holidays are correlated with later Jewish identification as teens and adults. Come meet and join other parents and children in beginning the Jewish journey of a lifetime! Please fill out the registration form and return it to the Education Office. If you have any questions about this Pre-K Child and Parent Holiday Class, please call Rabbi Greninger in the Education Office at (925) 284-9191.
