How do I pronounce “Omanut”?

Who can participate in Omanut?
- Any 3rd or 4th grader at Temple Isaiah may opt to participate in Omanut as an alternative to our grade-level Religious School program.
- We must have at least 12 students signed up by the end of August to offer this program.
Who will teach / lead Omanut?
- Local artist & Temple Isaiah member Marsha Anderson will teach Omanut.
- Additional teachers/speakers/artists may come in to “guest teach” on occasion
What is the curriculum for Omanut?
- Mitkadem (Hebrew curriculum for all Temple Isaiah Religious School students)
- Tefillah (along with all Temple Isaiah Religious School students)
- Classroom time: a combination of Judaica, art education, and art projects
Will my child learn exactly the same things as in his/her grade of Religious School?
- Yes and no.
- Your child will be exposed to many of the same key topics as the grade-level Religious School students (Torah, Hebrew, prayer, Israel, etc). However, the modality of learning will be very different (it will be through art!).
- Omanut students will gain specialized knowledge that is not part of the grade-level Religious School program.
- Students in the grade-level Religious School program & in Omanut will come away with different knowledge, but we strive for all our students to be excited and inspired by Judaism and Jewish living.
Will my child learn as much Hebrew as students in the grade-level Religious School program?
Will my child be prepared for his or her bar/bat mitzvah if s/he participates in Omanut?
- Yes! Students in Omanut will participate in Mitkadem, our comprehensive Hebrew & prayer curriculum for all 3rd-6th graders at Temple Isaiah.
How/when will my child spend time with his/her grade-level friends at Religious School (those who are not in Omanut)?
- Tefillah (weekday & Sundays)
- Other Temple Isaiah events / programs: Camp Kefli, holidays, Family Retreat, got shabbat?, etc.
Is Omanut more expensive than grade-level Religious School classes?
- Yes and no.
- The Religious School fee is the same for all 3rd & 4th graders, whether in Omanut or not: $455.
- There is an additional supply fee of $125 per student for the art supplies needed for Omanut.
