Find a Rabbi, Make a Friend (Pirke Avot 1:6)

Rabbis Graetz and Shanks have meant more to Temple Isaiah than we can express. But that doesn’t mean we can’t try! Share your recollections, your stories, your experiences and your memories of the effect that the rabbis’ unique collaboration has had on your or your family. Two unique, multifaceted mentors ... each taking me farther ... deeper ... enlarging and enhancing my Jewish understanding in different and, of course, complementary ways. I and my family have been so blessed with good fortune to have these two wonderful people as influences in our lives.

    Thank you to you both.

    B’ahava,

Until I met the two of you I never realized that a rabbi could also be a friend. I don’t mean to diminish your rabbinical leadership and influence on the Temple Isaiah community in any way but you are both my friends first and my rabbis second. I like it that way. Y’all are great!

Thank you both for all you have done to make this the warm welcoming community that is.  Your leadership and compassion, dedication and vision have created a home for us and so many others, and we know we are part of something very special.  We look back at all the lifecycle events you have been a part of with our family, and it brings us great joy and comfort.  We also look ahead to others soon to come, and feel blessed by your presence in our lives.  We love you and thank you for all you do.

P.S.  We are so sorry to miss the Gala Saturday night.  We will be in southern California at a Bat Mitzvah.  I know it will be a wonderful evening, and a much deserved tribute to you both!
