Events & Activities
Anshei’s monthly events are the backbone of the organization, providing opportunities for us to come together to learn, have fun, and develop a close-knit community. Our events are as varied as our members, ranging in categories from personal and professional growth, physical well-being, cultural events and spectator sports, politics and social action, to just men being boys.
In the past year alone, we have hosted a bipartisan panel discussion (“Pizza, Politics, and Humor”), attended a specially hosted performance at Cal Shakes, and gone on a family bike ride on the Iron Horse Trail. Our affiliated groups include the ClixPix, photography club which meets monthly, the walking group which hikes around Lafayette Reservoir every Sunday morning, and the Anshei Isaiah Riders who go on regular bicycle rides. We strive to create events and programming that promote camaraderie, and provide an opportunity to network and bond.

In addition to its diverse monthly offerings, Anshei Isaiah has several annual events:
Kick-Off Dinner

The member year always kicks-off in spring with a delicious and lively Kick-Off Dinner, catered by our own Bill Broussard. Past themes have included Mardi Gras, Polynesian Pig-Free Pig-Out, and a Tailgate Party. In addition to libations and schmoozing, the event features invited speakers who invariably provide nourishment for the mind. This event is not to be missed. Click here for more information about this year’s kickoff dinner.
Trivia Night

A co-ed team event, AI’s Trivia Night is an evening of dinner, wine and friendly competition. It’s a great opportunity for Temple chavarim to get out together for one of our largest Temple Youth Fund fundraisers.
Men’s Retreat

Once a year the men of Temple Isaiah gather for a weekend of spiritual renewal, study and comradeship at a local retreat center. Rabbi Graetz, assisted by Joel Siegel, leads the group in Shabbat worship and study sessions that lead to open conversations about the role of men in the life of the Jewish community in our times. The retreat also provides an opportunity re-charge by spending a weekend in a beautiful natural setting and away from the usual distractions of daily life. A weekend of personal, social, and spiritual engagement is capped by poker and jam sessions after Saturday night’s Havdallah. Click here for more information about this year’s retreat.
